Last minute Challenges

I hope you're all having a great weekend so far. The relentless heat has kept me indoors most of the day so that means I can visit my creation station without the guilt. This time I'm entering two Challenges. The first one is for Challenge YOUrself.  This one jumped out at me because of the song lyrics. I mean who doesn't like Louis Armstrong I ask you?!! And this is such an iconic song known the World over. My inspiration is the word "Wonderful" and how I'm trying to appreciate the fantastic Country that I live in as well as my own personal World. When I'm visiting places in my own Country I really do sometimes think to myself how wonderful it is and how lucky we are.

The second Challenge is from Picture This! Challenges. A chance to play with some mixed media....yay!! soooo much fun.

Here is my entry with a background of texture paste, stamping, Dylusions Paint and something new for me...glue from my new cordless hot glue gun. I've used the glue to add dimension to the page.

I painted the glue with Dylusions Paint "Dirty Martini".  I also watered down some of the paint and let it run over the textured background.

There's a lot of layering on this page, which I normally struggle with and I'm not afraid to admit that this was my second attempt. My first was a complete disaster but I managed to pull it apart and salvage a few things to add to the new page.

This photo of me was taken almost a year ago when we took time off to visit our Nation's Capital. I specifically went to enjoy a art exhibition that was running at the time and while we were there we were lucky enough to see Rob Thomas in concert. One of the best concerts we've been to. Such a nice guy and fantastic entertainer. I can't wait for him to come back to Australia again.

So that's my labour of love for today. If you have a couple of minutes to spare jump on over to both of the above Challenge blogs and check out the "wonderful" inspiration from the design teams. Thanks for looking xx

Summer Squeeze

Happy Australia Day to my Aussie followers and welcome everyone. I really wanted to join in on some challenges this month and the challenge over at D-lish Scraps really jumped out at me with all the beautiful colours. So here is the Mood Board:

Isn't it so pretty! And here is my take on it. Quite a busy layout for me, but I've been itching to use the Kaisercraft die cut circles. I've covered all the colour criteria as well.

A very different page to my usual but it was so much fun. Thanks for looking xx

Romance is in the air

Well hello my fellow paper crafters. Who doesn't love a celebration of love! I forgot to share with you an Engagement Card that I made recently for my Niece (and Goddaughter) and her Fiance'. I must say that I very rarely do Engagement/Wedding cards so this was such a joy to make. Luckily I didn't have to mail it out. I really love this colour combo with the soft aqua and cream.

The flowers for the hearts were a rosette ribbon, but I cut them all individually to fit inside the heart shape and around the aqua resin rose.

A little embossing and pearl hearts.

I absolutely adore this lace that I've been saving for a special project and I'm so glad I was able to incorporate it on this card.

Thanks for dropping by. I do hope you are having a wonderful week xx

Find your own paradise

After a fairly dramatic week here in my neck of the woods, I've finally been able to create a layout, YAY! My first for 2017. I've been keen to play with the "Ubud Dreams" January Kit from Uniquely Creative.  I'm a tad in love with these colours and the designs. Kaisercraft have outdone themselves once again. And I have a few photos, compliments of our DD and partner, who kindly provide me with some wonderful inspiration.

I'm so far behind on their photos and they are currently wandering the Planet again as I write this, so my work is never done, thankfully, because where would I be if I couldn't play with paper I ask you?

Anyway thanks for looking and I hope you have been able to get your hands on these lovely papers xx.

Mixed Media Art Journal 2017

Obviously you've been able to find my Blog...yay!  I've been wanting a "Blog" change for a while and today I finally got around to giving it a make-over, title and all.  I think the new title and background better reflects my interests and life as it is at the moment.

So going with that theme, I finally sat down to get messy and created something "just because". I think it's been about 4 or 5 months since I played around in my Art Journal. I forgot how therapeutic it is. This inspiration comes from the very talented and super lovely Marta Lapkowska.

A couple of closies to begin with. A bit of metal and texture added.

I added some serviette paper and book paper to the background after I gessoed it.

And here is the double page spread. As usual it turned out nothing like I had in my head when I started, but that's okay, I just went with it to see where it would end up :D

This is the last page in this Journal, so I'm looking forward to starting a new one to coincide with a new year (besides this one is now slightly fat!).

Products used:
Gesso, texture paste, Colour Blast colour shimmer dust - Sunflower, Kaiser Mist - Coffee, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Apricot Nectar, Prima Colour Bloom - Deep Teal, Black Archival Ink, Background stamps, word stamps, stencil.

Thanks for looking today!  xx

Ubud Dreams January Creative Kit

Well hello again and welcome back.  It's been a while since my last blog update but I tend to get a bit crazy and lazy over the Christmas and New Year period. I can't wait to share with you the new Kit from Uniquely Creative for January. Oh my goodness!! This Kit is I think now my new favourite. The Colours! The patterns! Be still my beating heart :D   How about I just get on with it.....

Can you see what I mean about the wonderful colours?  This is one of the cards that I created with the Ubud Dreams Kit. Simple yet effective and you will find the instructions for this in the Kit. And the add-on Die is to, well....die for :D

And I don't like waste so I used the negative from the above die cut for my next card.

I just love the tiled paper pattern.

In this Kit you will get some gorgeous little glass tiles and a pretty ombre ink pad. This is one of the cards I made using them plus the lovely add-on stamp set.

The Collectables in this Kit are truly beautiful and versatile.

So that's just a small snippet of what you'll find in this KIT. I've been finding it tough of late getting my creative mojo happening but I can't wait for the weekend so that I can grab some photos to create a 12x12 layout with this. And hopefully post the result here for you to see.

PS. These photos don't do justice to the colours in this Kit. You need to see it IRL.

Thanks again for looking xx
