Scrap Africa Challenge #53

Yes, well...it's Monday again!  But what better way to start a new week than with a new challenge over at the fabulous SCRAP AFRICA blog.  This challenge is so much fun, especially if you do a bit of travelling, check it out:

And here is my design:

This is the matching page to my previous layout for Scrap Africa. I so love this Echo Park Summer Adventure kit :)

The Flair is from D-lish Scraps, Title alphas are American Crafts Thickers.

Thanks for looking and I hope you can play along with this Challenge. Have a great week!

A D-lish..ious Challenge

Hidey Ho everyone and welcome back. Today I'm sharing a really lovely Challenge that I've entered over at D-lish Scraps.  Amanda always has some great Challenges as well as a monthly Cyber-crop. Sadly, I haven't had the time of late to play along at the Cyber-crop, but I really wanted to have a go at this month's challenge. Check it out...

I love the vibrant yellow with black and white. The sketch is optional, but I followed it anyway as it's a really lovely sketch. Here is my take:

I found this quote on the internet ages ago. I think it is appropriate for my girl at the moment.

All the products on this page are from Amanda's store D-lish Scraps (except for the wood veneer words). I have a lot of Amanda's products but I especially love the beautiful, large yellow flower with the pearls & rhinestones - from her "After 5's" flower collection which come in heaps of colours (unfortunately they sell out very quickly).

So that's this week's challenge. I'm hoping to spend the weekend working on my Art Journal with lots of mixed media. I hope you all have a great weekend! Until next time...

June Kraft+Plus....

To be honest, the new challenge over at Kraft+ really threw me this time and I didn't think that I would enter the Challenge this month.  However my desire to play along overtook any hesitation I had about joining in. Here is the Challenge, so you can understand why I was hesitant to join in:

Don't get me wrong...this is a lovely inspo board but the circles and animal print criteria were going to take me out of my comfort zone. Firstly I don't possess any animal print paper or stamps, and I could have downloaded some from the internet I guess. BUT, I came across some photos of my DD's road trip through Portugal, and when you see the Campervan it becomes pretty obvious why I just had to use these photos :)  This is me thinking outside the square....

"Portugal Road Trip"

I mean really! What a cool, zebra-striped vehicle! I even managed to draw some zebra stripes on the little wood-veneer car.

I this beautiful map is from Echo Park "Reflections" by Lori Whitlock and it just happens to include Portugal and Spain....how convenient! So I fussy cut out the coastline to add to my Kraft background.

The compass is a die from Kaisercraft.

And I love this little Geo tag die also from Kaisercraft. So I've covered the criteria for this Challenge without too much angst.  Thanks for looking and have a great week! xx

So on with the new, beaut Sketch Challenge #52:

I love this sketch and you should call into the Scrap Africa Blog to check out how the DT have interpreted this. Here is my take "Cruise"

I struggle a bit with using multiple photos so this took me out of my comfort zone - which is the whole point of "challenges"  :D  Anyway I used the lovely Echo Park "Summer Adventure" collection kit for the layout. Perfect for my theme. The Flair buttons are from Studio Fourteen40
and flowers are Prima and D-lish Scraps.

We've always wanted to try an ocean cruise (we are in love with river cruising) but I have a notoriously weak stomach when it comes to the ocean so we decided to just do a 3 night "Sampler Cruise" with Royal Caribbean out of Sydney. I was fine while docked and I had the most marvelous cocktail (not a very flattering photo I'm afraid) but don't let that smile fool you. Once we were through the Heads, and despite medication, I spent the next two days alternating between the bed and the bathroom. DH had a lovely time going to all the shows and socialising....lol!  I ended up resigning myself to the fact that a sailor I do not make, and spent my time reading and watching TV. We had a lovely balcony but sadly the weather let us down. So I will be sticking to river cruising from now on. And as the saying goes "you never know until you go", so "been there, done that!".

I really hope you can join in at Scrap Africa for this challenge. I'd love to see your work. Until next time....Bon Voyage!

ARTastic June Challenge

Really?!!! Really?!!! is it June already! How on earth did that happen?! And winter has well and truly set in here. The house is cosy with the fire constantly burning, and it's so good to come home to a warm house and our welcoming committee, who love nothing better than lying in front of the fire. The cold weather is such a good time for some creativity.  ARTastic has another great challenge to keep us occupied this month. Check out this piece of artwork by Luka Va called "Bird King".  CRITERIA: Wood veneer and/or birds.

And here is my DT design:

I've used some old G45 paper with Prima flowers. The birds & butterfly I fussy cut from some papers that I can't remember the name of, gold doily and a couple of wood veneer embellies.

I added some gold glitter to the butterfly wings and gold beads to the flower centres & blue beads to the butterfly's body.

This is a pic of my Dad and my daughter last Christmas, just after she arrived home from her two year stint overseas. Her Grandfather missed her so much and promptly informed her that she wasn't allowed to leave the country ever again...lol!  This is such a fun challenge because you are free to create a design of your own choosing and all you need to do is cover the easy criteria. I really hope you can play along this month. You can check out all the other DT inspo HERE

Thanks for dropping by xx
