Hidey Ho everyone! I hope you are able to stay in out of the heat but I know that by the very nature of their work it is sometimes impossible for some people (e.g. my DH) & therefore must carry on in all weather conditions. But the upside of being indoors is that my creativeness has taken over & I've managed to complete a few projects of late. This one is for this month's challenge over at Scrap the Boys - http://scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/ I must admit that I have always had issues with masculine pages but of late I've been forced to come up with quite a few of these pages & the challenges over at Scrap the Boys always help me get the ball rolling.
This months challenge is to feature my Son's favourite Holiday/Summer activity. And once again I am featuring pics from our recent beach break. I got a tad excited about using some bright, summery colours again.
The cardstock is Pool Party & Island Indigo from Stampin' Up! Some of PPs & title are from Simple Stories which I had left over from a project I made at the Brisbane Expo, the ribbons & buttons are from CRAFT QUEEN http://www.craftqueen.com.au which I have some exciting news about very shortly :) Arrows are Maya Road & all the other embellies are handmade by yours truly, plus a little bit of stamping.
The other exciting news for me is that I'll be doing a major make-over of my scrapbooking room very soon, so I've been trawling the internet for ideas & appropriate furniture - not as easy as it sounds - but I can't wait to get stuck into it as my room at the mo is a mish mash of second hand desks/drawers etc which don't match along with spare mattresses & some of our DDs boxes from her Uni days that still haven't found a home. So all of that will be going.....yay! and hopefully I'll have a more stream-lined, uncluttered creation station.
However, on the down side, the reason why I'm going to be able to do this is because my darling girl is moving out :( and not only moving out, but moving to the other side of the world....sob (I know! could she get any further away from home??!!!!). So we'll have another spare room to fill with all her "stuff", leaving me with a completely dedicated scrap room. And of course our darling boy will also being heading back to ADF training in a few short weeks as well so we will be "empty nesters" & I must say I'm already not liking it. I mean really....what are DH & I going to talk about now given the fact that we haven't been on our own for any length of time for the last 25 years! The kids have both moved out of home for short periods of time separately over the recent years & then returned, but not both at the same time really. Everyone tells me that we'll get used to it & I am making sure we have lots of plans/adventures to look forward to this year just to take my mind off the changes in our lives. Anyway I'll keep you up to date on my scrap room make-over.
Thanks for dropping by & enjoy the rest of your week xx
Lovely layout Jo and you will have to do regular updates of your scrap room makeover. Empty nesters, you do get used to it, even though at first it feels so lonely. Lots of adventures sounds exciting
