Just sharing...

I made these pages a few months ago (well, quite a few months ago now) and I made them specifically for publication. And they were happily picked up for publication, and subsequently sent off for closer perusal and photographing. However I've heard nothing since, so I thought I would share them with you before I file them in their albums.

                                                    OUT FOR PUBLICATION!

I found these song lyrics when I was searching the internet for another project that I had in mind. Isn't it always the way when you're not actually looking for something and when you come across it you know that it is exactly what you've been looking for?! I downloaded the beautiful butterfly from the internet (maybe from Percy & Bloom) & the little clock & anchor are significant to the story I wanted to tell.

This page was actually made for a challenge set by the lovely Julie Winks over at The Boxx. I was quite pleased with how it turned out & because it is so different to what I normally do, I decided to keep this aside  & I made another one for the challenge. I really love this aqua/teal colour especially combined with the white. I thought it looked a bit whimsical especially when I added the muslin & feather. And of course you can't go past a bit of Prima :)

Anyhoo, that's my share for this week. Off to the big smoke next week - not for anything fun & exciting though - oh no, no, no - nothing like that :( Unfortunately DH will be undergoing well overdue surgery so I'll be hanging around a hospital (just to add to all the other major events happening in our household this year), so my creative juices will have to be put on hold for a little while :(  So until next time - whenever that will be - happy creating.

Bird is the Word - June Challenge

Hidey Ho! I think the gloomy days are getting to me because I felt like pulling out all the "brights" from my stash. When Bird is the Word http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com.au/ set the challenge as "colour/s", I got a bit excited. I decided to re-visit our photos from Singapore because they were so colourful and came across this photo of the beautiful lights of the city while we strolled around after dinner one night. I love the reflection on the water as well.

I've used my new masks; the C/W chevron & the other from Prima - so much fun to use. Also thank you to my lovely friend Annette http://annetteedmonds.blogspot.com.au/ for the doilies, lace & butterfly button. All flowers are from Prima. The feathers were cut from the bottom of a dress embelly with the matching mask, which I've had in my stash for years....yay! finally found a use for them.  Anyway I hope this has brighten your day!

Another rainy day blog...

Hello again. It's hard to believe that Friday has rolled around again. Now that we've had the shortest day of the year, surely it must be nearly Summer.....pleeeeaaase let it be Summer again soon. So to take my mind off the gloomy day that it is here I've scrapped another of our travel pics. This is what we saw as we sailed across the border from Germany into Austria. It almost made me want to sing "the hills are alive" :) but I'm sure no one on that ship wanted me to ruin the perfect day. This beautiful church is right on the waters edge & the countryside is as green as far as the eye can see & then a perfectly blue, cloudless sky. If you click on this pic & look closely you can see another church way on the hill in the background. Europeans really love their churches!  What a perfect day we had this day & it will stick in my mind always.
I've used some left over Graphic 45 paper, Prima flowers, Kaiser camera & passport, ScrapFX suitcase & the lovely Bo Bunny Etcetera music note. The raindrops on the flowers are still a bit milky because they hadn't dried when I took the closies - whoops.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a great weekend.

Hump day news

Hello all!  I'm just a tad excited at the mo. I was honoured to be chosen as the Guest Designer over at Show Us Your Stuff   http://showusyourstuff.blogspot.com.au/ for the second half of June. My very first Guest DT spot.  Please pop over and check it out.  I must say as far as challenges go, this was a doosy. Below is the pic from which I was to take my inspiration.

Isn't it beautiful?! So now you know how challenging this was :)

Completed Expo Class projects

As promised here are two of my finished projects from the Expo classes. The first is the Jane Tregenza page (using Graphic 45 pps & Imaginarium Designs embellies) & the second is the Lisa Pate page (using Simple Stories pps & I added a Purple Pumpkin button....just because).

The peacock feathers have been inked & sprayed with smootch spritz sparkles.

The lovely Lisa got us to do some paper rolling which was quite a challenge, suffice to say that I only have half the amount of paper rolls on my page as I was supposed to. Lots of layering on this one too.
Thanks for dropping by, have a great weekend :)

Creative Scrappers Challenge #212

Hello again. My mojo has finally returned so I have lots to share this weekend. This is my take on the sketch challenge #212 over at Creative Scrappers http://www.creativescrappers.blogspot.com.au/
I had some paper left over from the class that I took with Lisa Pate last weekend at the Expo so thought I'd put it to use while I had it all out. Here is the sketch:

And here is my entry using some of the pics I took last weekend (the pic of my layout looks a bit crooked in this photo - apparently I can't take a straight photo to save myself).

I finally got to use this lovely Purple Pumpkin button that I've had in my stash for a while, which matches the Simple Stories pp so well. I'll be back soon with a couple of the finished projects from the classes I took at the Expo.

Expo Hangover

Well I arrived home from the Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo in Brisbane late on Monday night and yes, I have an Expo hangover & needed a few cat naps during the day yesterday. It didn't help that both flights from Brissie were very bumpy & not fun at all. Now an event of this calibre over three days requires the stamina of Hercules! Throw in a 30 minute walk to the Convention Centre & back to my accommodation each day & you have one exhausted scrapbooker.  Having said that, it is the most inspiring and exciting place to visit, especially when your creative mojo has gone MIA of late.

I was lucky enough to attend four 2hr classes with the wonderfully talented Lynette Carroll, Jane Tregenza & Lisa Pate. I got so much out of these classes & they were lots of fun. Here are a couple of pics of two of the classes:

From this photo this page looks quite simple & straight forward, however IRL the border has been cut by hand & matted in black c/s the centre piece (with the peacock feather pattern) has also been cut separately & matted twice. This is all Graphic 45 paper and all the chipboard pieces from Imaginarium Designs (don't you just love those peacock feathers) have each been inked & sprayed with Smootch Spritz glitter. I think the little black chippie lace corners are a nice touch too. This class took me out of my comfort zone & these are colours I would not normally work with, so I was pleased with how I handle it :)

This is a sneak peek of the Wall Art designed by Lynette Carroll. The way that she presented this class was truly professional & she goes above & beyond to make sure we had everything we needed to complete this lovely project at home, including photos of each individual step. So when I have actually finished it & added my pics I'll post a photo of the completed project. Lynette actually sells the kits for all her wall art projects online, so I think I'm going to be a regular visitor to her site.

There are two other projects that I made during my time at the Expo which I'll try & post when I have completed them. So I have plenty to keep me occupied at the mo and I think my mojo decided to come home on the plane with me......yay :)  And an extra bonus over the weekend was meeting some of my cyber friends for the first time. We had a lovely meal out together on Saturday night (all 16 of us) with lots of laughs. Besides being super talented in their own right, these gals are the nicest people you could ever meet. I was so lucky to be able to catch up with them. Anyway.......
Thanks for visiting, have a great day!

Scrapbooking & Papercraft Expo

Good morning all,
Just a quick post this morning.  Today I'm off to the largest papercrafting expo in Australia (Brisbane) http://www.scrapbookexpo.com.au/  Check out their website.
Three days of shopping, demos & classes. I've booked myself into 4 classes so I'm very excited to be learning from the best in the business. Hopefully I'll get to meet Tim Holtz as well. But best of all I'll finally get to meet IRL some of my wonderful cyber friends. We'll be getting together for dinner on Saturday night as well......can't wait for that!
I'm looking forward to sharing with you what I learn at the Expo & hopefully I'll remember to take some pics as well.
Have a great long weekend :)

White with 1 June Challenge

This month's challenge over at http://whitewith1.blogspot.com.au/ is WHITE + PALE BLUE + FLAGS. I couldn't wait to give this a go as I practically never just use pale blue on my pages. I've used lots of misting & inking on this as well. I chose the title because these moments of us all being together at any one time are quickly coming to a close and these two wonderful people are moving on to bigger & better things very soon (sob, sniffle) anyway I wanted to capture some of the moments we've had together recently.

And a couple of closies:

Now its not the most glamorous photo of the two of them, but it captures them fooling around like they used to when they were younger & it makes me happy seeing them still enjoying each others company.
Thanks for dropping by on this rainy Saturday. Until next time......

The Boxx June Sketch Challenge

The wonderful Julie Winks, one of the DTs over at The Scrapboxx, has set the sketch challenge for this month. However this time around it is a card challenge & while I was creating a layout today I thought I would use some of the leftovers to do the card challenge. Here is the sketch:
And here is my take on it:
There are more hearts tucked behind the flower which you can't really see from this angle.
I'll be back shortly with another challenge page for June, so stay tuned :)
