CSI No: 72

I so enjoyed the previous challenge that I did for CSI: Colour, Stories, Inspiration that I thought I would have another go. I really love the colour palette in this challenge and when I read the Evidence and Testimony I knew right away which photos to use. Here is the Case File:

And this is my take (Once again thank you to Steve Hill for providing the photos for me):

I really love this pic of my DD on the tea cup ride. It sums up her life at the moment, living overseas with her partner and finding the balance between working, travelling and getting used to being together 24/7. Her world is in a spin and a constant balancing act, as it is when you are young and have the world at your feet. Seeing as the pics were taken at Disneyland Paris, I wanted to create a fun, happy, colourful feel to the page.

I've used lots of bright colours within the scheme. The lovely chippy vine frame is from WOW and buttons are from Purple Pumpkin. Here are the closies:

Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoy your week :)

Scrap Around The World May Challenge

Hello again everyone. There's a new online challenge site created by the very talented Helen Tilbury, that has just released it's very first challenge. Scrap Around The World as you would guess is open to anyone around the world and has an amazing line up of international designers, so we'll never be short of inspiration.

Here is the current challenge:

As you can see it is a colour/texture challenge as well as a sketch challenge. In case you haven't noticed over the last few months, I'm in love with this colour combo. I've even used these colours in my Christmas cards for last year. Anyway here is my take:

This lovely pic was taken on New Year's Eve 2012 and it was the last time we were all together on a mini summer break. So I'm glad I managed to get some half decent photos :)  In the closies you'll see that I've used some texture paste with a prima stencil (from Craft Queen) with Glimmer Mist and I've heat embossed stamped images onto the tags. The flowers are from Prima, Kaisercraft PP, Websters Pages crochet doily and some old tea-dyed crochet doily off-cut. The little white hearts and metal embellies are from Craft Queen as well as is the satin seam binding.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your week. Please feel free to leave a comment :) xx

Orange Paperie & Co May Challenge

Hi all, I hope your week is going smoothly and you've had lots of sunshine and happiness. I really urge you to pop on over to the Orange Paperie & Co and join in on the fun this month. If you've never tried a monochromatic page this challenge is just right for you to have a play. This is the closies of my inspo for the middle of the month and you can see the whole page and read about the story behind it over at the OP&C blog.

I've punched, layered, inked and sprayed my own corrugated flowers and flags. I've used texture paste to make the snow flakes with the negatives from snow flake chippies that I had left over from another project. I love the effect.

The DT at the Orange Paperie & Co would so love to see your work, so what are you waiting for?

Until next time xx

International Mail

Hello everyone, I hope you're all enjoying the magnificent, but unseasonal weather at the moment. Today felt like the middle of summer with bush fire smoke in the air. I'm still working on a layout and seeing as it's not quite ready to be posted to my blog I thought I'd show you the card I made for my darling girl who is living in London at the moment. Her and her partner have just moved to their first fixed address so I wanted to be the first to send them mail. This is the card I made for them:

The pretty ribbon is from Craft Queen I really like this combination of aqua and brown. I hand coloured the centre of the stamped flowers and added some mini pearls. Click on the photo for a close up.

I love this quote and it is very appropriate for us. Thanks for looking and hope all the Mums out there have a fantastic Mother's Day.

Reminder! Orange Paperie & Co

I know there are literally hundreds of online scrapbooking challenge sites out there, but if you are keen to support some not so well-known scrapbookers don't forget to pop on over to Orange Paperie & Co and have a go at this month's challenge by the wonderful DT member Cheryl.  She managed to get hold of one of my favourite creators, Helen Wallace as our Guest Designer this month. If you are ever looking for great inspiration, visit Helen's blog and see how clever she is with her journalling.

The challenge for this month is to create a MONOCHROMATIC LAYOUT WITH LOTS OF WHITE SPACE. If you're not sure what this means have a look at the DT examples. Otherwise it means using different tones of the same colour and white space = empty space on your page.

Around the middle of the month I will post my DT design for this challenge, so don't forget to check into the Orange Paperie & Co blog. We'd love to see how you interpret this challenge!

A new month another challenge.

Merry Monday everyone! Over the weekend I created a page for CSI: Colour, Stories, Inspiration  I always find the time to browse through all the amazing creations by the DT at CSI but I've found the challenges quite daunting. However I've finally bitten the bullet and had a go. It was made very easy by the fact that I'm in love with the colours this week and had the perfect photos to match :) Gotta love that!

So here is the Case File:

And this is my take:

I've had this lovely sheet of Basic Grey Pink Paper for soooo long and I've been waiting for just the right photos to come along. Here are the closies:

Hidden journalling:

I so love pink & green together with a little black & white thrown in. I was tweaking this page right up until this morning (10 mins before I had to be at work), but I think I'm happy with the end result.  The photos were taken by Steve Hill (my DD's partner) on their recent trip to Paris - I'm so jealous! So expect a few more layouts with a Paris theme :)

Thanks for looking and please leave some lovin' so that I know you've visited.

Purple Pumpkin April Challenge

Hi everyone, I think I've just scraped in by the skin of my teeth with this challenge for Purple Pumpkin.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I've desaturated the photo a bit to blend in with the colours that I've used. There are two buttons from Purple Pumpkin. The "script" button was black & white but I've spayed it with Glimmer Mist to match my colour scheme. The small flowers are from Green Tara and the large one is from Manor House.

It's hard to see in this pic but the large flower has touches of blue through it. I've used structure paste for the brickwork and mixed in some Glimmer Mist for colour.

Many thanks for dropping by :)xx
