Father's Day Inspo....

Yes it's hard to believe that Father's Day is just around the corner here in Australia, so I've had put my head down and rear end up!  I've used this card as my entry in the currenty Mini Challenge on the More Than Words FB page (criteria being to use the word "Best") and I've used left overs from the Paper Flourish August Kit Club

A vintage card with a modern twist using Colour Blast Colour Paste and a cute little stencil from Flutterby Designs.

Plenty of stash leftover from this very cool masculine Kit. Thanks for looking xx

More Colour from Colour Blast

In keeping with my "Colour my World" mantra at the moment, I want to share with you a lovely technique that was shown at the recent Flutterby Designs "Create By The Lake" Retreat. The lovely, talented Amy Prior demonstrated how to get this rainbow effect with Colour Blast Colour Paste. So I brought out one of my stencils and gave it a go. I must say....soooo much fun and once the paste dries it becomes this beautiful shimmering vibrant colour. I then added some Liquid Pearls dots and covered a few of the chippy titles with the Perlen-Pens and Liquid Pearls. However, for the word "Brisbane" and the little circle embellie from Flutterby Designs I added Colour Blast Shimmer Dust to some Gesso to paint them....love the result!

A very simple design but I really wanted the photo to shine and the colours to pop. This page is a "just because" page and it's very different to what I normally do. Thanks for dropping by xx

More than Words Challenge

Hello everyone and welcome back. I've had a wonderful week of catching up on well-over-due jobs, cooking decent meals and finally feeling like I am getting on top of things both domestically and creatively. One of my personal achievements this week was to create a layout for the current challenge at More Than Words and to incorporate more colour into my projects. I really like the theme of this challenge and new exactly which photo I wanted to use.

I love using circles so I pulled out my treasured Prima Stitched Circle stamps, which apparently are collectors items now. A set went up for auction at the recent retreat that I attended and after fierce bidding, ended up selling for quite a bit of money, so I'm cherishing these stamps even more now :D   The other thing I was excited to get stuck into was my Colour Blast Shimmer Dust and Colour Blast Colour Paste. I had the chance to play with these beautiful Australian products at the aforementioned retreat and I was blown away at how magical these products are. I think my new motto is "colour, colour, colour"!  Here is my entry:

I just had to use this colourful pic of me with two of my scrapping buddies Mary Bennetts and Lizzy Hill. Not only did the photo fit the theme but also my own criteria of  using bright colours. I hardly ever get to see these ladies IRL but they are always ready for a cyber chat and inspire and encourage me endlessly. This photo was taken at Camp Mojo last year and I can't wait to see them again (plus a couple of other of my lovely friends)  next month for our weekend getaway!

This cute felt star is part of a package from Charms Creations that I won at the recent retreat. So glad I have had a chance to use it already :)

Look at that rich, vibrant colour!

Lots of layers and texture!

So thanks for calling in and I hope that I helped colour your world!

Hello again, just popping back in to share another project that I completed at last weekend's Retreat. On this page I have used some of the Paper Flourish July Kit Club products. Challenge YOUrself #31

Just back from a fun-filled Scrapbooking Retreat and my head is full of inspiration! So as the title of this Post suggests, I have challenged myself to create more pages about yours truly. It's probably one of the hardest subjects for us to tackle, however I am just about out of photos of my kids so I am putting myself in front of the camera for a change. There is a wonderful Blog called Challenge YOUrself which sets monthly challenges about the subject of YOU. This is my first time entering a challenge on this Blog so here goes:

I took this sketch along with me to the Retreat, so I had ample time to get it done. I chose a pic of our DS and myself taken last Summer in Sydney. I remember this day in December because the weather was hovering around 40 degrees in the City and after a morning of shopping we called in to a bar next to the Opera House for a cool ale or two. It was just before Christmas so the shops were really crowded. It was so hot that after this photo was taken we went back to our Hotel for a "Siesta" in the air con before heading out for dinner and a show.

I had a bit of fun using some of Flutterby Designs' luscious "flutter colour" acrylic mixed media paint (Aquamarine Dream) that was kindly given to me at the Retreat, plus the amazing Colour Blast Colour Paste (Sunshine) which dries to a beautifully vibrant shiny texture. Both of these products come from wonderful Australian Companies.  So I've used a bit of vellum between the paper layers and stamped some of the vellum along with the photo with a script stamp.

Thanks for calling and I urge you to call on over to the Challenge YOUrself blog and check out the inspo or have a look at Flutterby Designs website as well as the relatively new Colour Blast website.
Ta ta for now xx
