The Paper Players #156

Time hasn't been my friend of late, so I'm a tad chuffed that I've been able to cobble together a card for the current challenge over at  The Paper Players. This is actually a Father's Day card for my collection that I'll be selling in the lead up to Dad's Day. A lovely quick and easy challenge this week which right up my alley.

Thanks for looking xx

CSI #82

I'm getting in early for this weeks Case File at CSI: Colour, Stories, Inspiration given the fact that my week days seem to fly by without me even getting close to my scrap room. So I've jumped in this weekend to get it done as I had a photo that I've been wanting to use for a while. This is my DD and her partner who are travelling o/s and the day they went to Brighton Beach - not a beach by our standards, but it was by the sea at least.
Here is the Case File

A fun colour scheme to work with this week, although a little out of my comfort zone. This photo reminded me of an old post card from seaside resorts, hence the title.

I'm lovin' co'ordination cardstock at the moment because I like to make the background as rustic and shabby as I like. I don't normally do a lot of journalling in my own hand writing but I really liked how the white gel pen stands out against the bright pink. I also pulled out my little dodgy sewing machine for this page - very brave for me! Anyway thanks for looking, have a great week :)

Scrap Around The World

Just getting in by the skin of my teeth with this one. The beautiful mood board and sketch for this month over at Scrap Around The World really caught my attention, so without further ado.....

Very dreamy and whimsical I must say, however I couldn't find a photo that would allow me to use all the pretty things in this mood board but I did have a couple of pics that I'd been wanting to scrap so I have used a few of the elements from the mood board as well as the sketch. My page title is "This is not Goodbye" is about my two wonderful kids saying farewell to each other at the beginning of this year. One was heading back to ADF training after the Xmas break and the other was going overseas to work/travel indefinitely, and neither of them know when they will see each other again. In these pics both of them were putting on brave faces. It was a very special moment between the two of them.

A bit of stamping and inking on this page with my fave colours of teal/pool party/black/white. The lovely chippie feather is from Imaginarium Designs.

Thanks for dropping by and happy scrapping! :)

CSI #81

While I'm trying to get my head around the fact that it's near the end of July, I've finally completed my first challenge for this month - a poor effort, I know but life just gets in the way of my creating sometimes. Case File #81 over at CSI this week is my type of colour scheme so it all flowed quite easily.......until I was half way through and started doubting myself :(  I wanted to document DD's visit to the gardens at the Palace of Versailles and some of the tips we gave her before her visit, speaking from experience.

Here is the Case File:

And this is my attempt at cracking the case:

I've had the timber fountain (Kaiser Craft) in my stash for so long and I was a bit excited to finally have the opportunity to decorate it. The timber background paper is from the Kaiser Base Coat range (painted with a light coat of Gesso) with a bit of Kaiser 50 cent and Bo Bunny pp thrown in and a few tags as well. The little Bird is by Prima and the lovely loop lace edging is from Craft Queen

The light for taking pics wasn't good today so it looks a bit washed out. But click on the the photo & you'll get a closie.  Thanks for dropping by xx

Christmas in July & Paper Players #153

It's finally Friday and time to get back into some creating. The challenge over at http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com.au/ at the moment is a Christmas theme. This card is also my design for the Christmas promotion over Craft Queen.  All the products I've used on this card are from Craft Queen so pop on over to have a look at Nicole's lovely on-line shop.

I think the owl ribbon is too cute!

Another little card share....

Happy hump day, I hope you all managed to get through another one. I, for one will be glad to see the end of this week as it will be the end of my full-time stint for a while. To say I'm extremely tired would be an understatement. These days I'm just not cut out for 10 hour shifts day in, day out. I must be getting old :( Plus I'm really missing my creation station time. But last weekend I did manage to jump in and get a card made, unfortunately under sad circumstances. This is what I came up with:

I've been experimenting with this stamp set a fair bit lately and I'm starting to get the hang of it but I'd like to do a bit more work with the flower petals, so I'll keep playing with this set for a while longer.

Thanks for looking and please feel free to leave a comment :)

Orange Paperie & Co July Challenge

The lovely Kim Ewins has set the challenge over at Orange Paperie & Co for July. "Stitching, Stamping & Stencilling" is this month's theme. This is my DT inspo. I found this fantastic paper (FabScraps) on one of my many journeys through cyber word. Perfect for the photo I wanted to use. Also I dug out my embroidery threads for the stitching on this page. If you look closely I have used the chicken wire stencil and also added some extra stamping. Lots of layering and a bit of lovely Washi tape from Craft Queen and this is what I ended up with.

And some closies:

The lovely button is from Purple Pumpkin which I've been wanting to use for ages. I've also inked up the flowers to match the colour scheme.
Please pop over and have a go at the challenge this month, we'd love to see your work :) And a huge thankyou to the talented Rachael Funnell for being our Guest Designer this month! Check out Rachael's blog for some great inspo.
