Together is where I like to be

Just when I thought it was warming up, I find myself spending another Sunday indoors, too chilly to venture  outside for any length of time - except to the clothes line of course. However, I did manage a short, brisk walk through the park today as well.
I've had this MME paper that I've been wanting to use. I love the look of grey timber as a background & the hexagons are fun to play with too.

I've also used a Pink Paislee Mistable flower, chippie flourish from WOW, tiny doily & tile from Tattered Inspirations & the owl button is from Purple Pumpkin. Brads are from Stampin' Up! Here are a couple of closies.

I "popped" some of the hexagons with foam mount to give some dimension. Thanks for dropping by, have a great week :)

The Paper Players Colour Challenge #108

Happy Hump day again! They seem to come around very quickly.
http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com.au/ is a blog I quietly follow but this time I thought I'd give their current challenge a bit of a go. This is the criteria:

Seeing as I have these lovely colours in my stash I dived straight in.

I've used the pretty "Happiness Shared" & "Perfectly Penned" stamp sets, Framelits dies, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake & Not Quite Navy inks & cardstock, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding & a button from the Neutral collection. I also hand coloured the flowers with Not Quite Navy & Cherry Cobbler markers, glossed them with Crystal Effects & added Liquid Pearls to the centre.

Thanks for dropping by again, it is much appreciated. Feel free to leave a comment :)

Orange Paperie & Co Aug Challenge

Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday. The lovely Kim Ewins over at the http://www.orangepaperieandco.blogspot.com.au/  has posted a lovely challenge this month.

Together with my love of this colour of late & the fact that I love taking photos of interesting/pretty/unusual doors & windows, I couldn't wait to get into my creation station & play. So after struggling with the after-effects of a big Saturday night, I finally finished my take on this challenge.

The other shutters in this photo were yellow & pink which didn't match my colour scheme so I de-saturated that end of the pic & left the beautiful aqua/blue shutters as the focus. I then place a matching border around the photo in my photo editing program.

The pretty pp is from Kaisercraft, flowers by Prima & Chippie from Twiddleybitz.  Have a great week!

Kraft It Up! August Challenge

Here I am back again with another challenge page. The girls over at Kraft It Up! set a fantastic challenge for this month with Kraft (of course) + a sketch + lots of layers (dimension, texture etc). So here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I love the look of corrugated cardboard especially for beach themes. And as you may have noticed I'm a fan of the colour aqua/teal as well. I've used these pics because they are of a time when I was at my most relaxed & this was a perfect holiday. It is where I snorkeled for the first time and totally chilled out & immersed myself in the total isolation of being on a tropical island where there were no day-trippers, cars, shops, phones or TVs. And I've never had a whole beach to myself!

I really got into this with the Gesso & Glimmer Mist. The flowers & birds nest are from Prima & Manor House, leaves are from Craft Queen. Chipboard is from Twiddleybitz & Imaginarium Designs.
I don't normally spend as much time on a project as I did with this, but I really wanted to take my time with it, so I tweeked it quite a bit as I went & sought some feedback from an outsider (thanks my sweet girl). Anyway this is the end result.  Thanks for looking :)

Ahhhhh.....the simple things

Hello again!  When not watching the Olympics I've been working on a page which I was going to enter into a challenge. However, I got a bit carried away & it no longer fits the criteria. I've scrapped this photo previously but because I like it so much I thought I'd do it again (only because I found this lovely Jillibean pp with the bikes & red polka dots to match). But I do really like this pic of DD taken last Summer. I love the colours & it reminds me of the carefree summer days of my youth when I used to ride my bike everywhere.

Plus I had this lovely Twiddleybitz penny farthing & a matching Purple Pumpkin button that matched perfectly.

As you can see I've left plenty of white space on this, very unlike me & what would be a girly page without a flutterby or two :) Sorry about the dodgy photo, there was a bit of shadow coming through the window at the time - it is a lot brighter than this IRL.
Thanks for dropping by  :)

And time for a couple of cards as well

I'm on such a role today! Thought I'd get a couple of cards done today as well.

I've used the Big Shot a bit on this card & I've also used the "rock & roll" inking technique for the motorbike & then I popped it into an embossing folder & then through the Big Shot. The next card is a technique I've been wanting to try for a while now, making a cloud pattern as a background. It was easier than I thought as I just cut out a my own hand drawn cloud to use as a template & then sponged around it. I love this little stamp set called "Up, Up & Away".

It's a bit hard to see in this photo but the balloons have foam dots behind them to make them pop off the page. I know that I've had a good session when I have inky fingers at the end of the day. It makes me very happy :)

White with 1 August challenge

The daffodils are blooming, there a buds on the trees, Spring is finally on its way! Unfortunately the frosts still insist on making an appearance on a daily basis. But it is nice to see the sun even if it is on the chilly side.
So now that July has passed I'm feeling a little bit more motivated & made a start on some challenges. This one is for the White with 1 August challenge of White + a map + travel embellishments. And its not like I have a shortage of travels photos, so I dived straight into this one.

I found these film strip frames at the Brisbane Expo which I thought would be perfect for all the photos I took of the changing of the Guard at Prague Castle.  I love the way they curve & give the page some interest.

I've also used some clear acetate travel embellies from Kaisercraft & a flower from A Lil Something. I copied the map from one of my travel guides, scrunched & inked it. The most difficult part of doing this page was printing the photos to the right size. Otherwise is was only a matter of a couple of hours & it was done....gotta love a quick page :)
Thanks for looking & I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

My Jane Tregenza inspired piece

Happy hump day!  Now that my working hours are back to some sort of normality I have been able to enter the creation station with a bit more enthusiasm. Last weekend I started this page using the beautiful Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe Collection. I've added a hand made flower, a chippy vine from Scrapmatts, pearls, a bit of inking & lots of Smooch Spritz. The butterflies are from the same collection. The frame around the photo is also Graphic 45 (not sure which collection) that I've had in my stash for ages, so finally a use for it.

I love the lovely rich, warm colours that Gaphic 45 use & all the elements for fussy cutting.
Thanks for dropping by & enjoy the rest of your week :)
