Gr2 Feb Show Us Your Stuff! Challenge

The Group 2 February Challenge over at http://showusyourstuff.blogspot.com.au/ is a recipe challenge. 3 pps, 3 embellies, at least one heart and paint somewhere on the page. So here is my entry. Now I may have mentioned this before, but purple is a colour I very rarely use, however I wanted to match the colour in DS's shirt & tie so I pulled out everything I possessed in my stash that was a shade of purple, then I added just a dash of green to break it & also black to make it more masculine.

I cut a little pocket at the top of the page for some hidden journalling, and white washed the background paper with white paint. The dyed doily, heart pin, purple satin ribbon, ticket & advert are all from Tattered Inspirations; cogs are from Srapmatts, and the stamp is from Stampin' Up!
Thanks for looking :)

Card Creativeness

This is a card I made for a family friend who is leaving to start a new career. I've embossed the motorbike & the "good luck" sentiment in white embossing powder to make them stand out more. I also used the Stampin' Up! textured impressions Square Lattice embossing folder for the background and white baker's twine. And I always like to stamp the envelopes to match, otherwise the project doesn't  feel quite finished. Other than this I've been practicing using my brayer today, as next week's technique class will include a brayer technique. Unfortunately I'm a tad messy & have managed to get more ink on myself than on the actual project.....how does that happen????

Please feel free to leave a comment :) I would love to hear from you.

The Boxx - Scrapper's Challenge

A wet Sunday....how unusual, but what a wonderful scrapping day :)  After an eventful, emotional & challenging week, I eventually finished my entry for the Scrapper's Challenge over at The Boxx. The criteria was unusual in that we had to use something on our page beginning with each letter from our name. So for mine I used: J = journalling, O = Orange, A = Alphas, N = Notes/Nonsense, N = Name/numbers, E = Embellishments/envelope.
I love the colour of this "blob" we found in Canberra so of course a photo had to be taken, so the photo is a bit of Nonsense :)

The little envelope is cut with a Big Shot die from Stampin' Up! (very cute) and the lovely fabric covered buttons are from Purple Pumpkin. Feeling a bit drained & below par today, so this will probably be it for my creating today. Thanks for dropping by.

Stuck?! Feb 15 sketch challenge

Happy Sunday!  Here is my entry for the challenge over at Stuck?!  The sketch looked fairly easy, however when I decided to use some of my holiday pics, therefore killing two birds with one stone, it became a tad more difficult than I'd imagined. Anyway, this is the end result.

I have "one of those" weeks coming up, so this will probably be the one & only page I'll get done for a while.

Flight of the butterflies

Hello fellow paper crafters, I finally got around to making some wall art for our new feature wall, after several attempts that I wasn't happy with.  I finally realised that this wall needed something bright, fun & whimsy. Ingredients: 2 canvases, white tissue paper for texture, modge podge, Tattered Angels glimmer mist, lots & lots of die cut butterflies & embossing folders.  The final product:

Sorry about the dodgy photos, but the lighting was a bit poor :(  TFL

Kraft it up! February challenge

The February challenge for Kraft it up! has been posted & of course the theme for this month is "love", however we can interpret that word anyway we like. Criteria: Kraft (of course) plus pink. Hmmmm, not colours I would normally introduce to each other, however Kraft & pink actually hit it off!  So when I think of love these days I think of Paris. It's not until you actually visit this amazing city that you understand what fellow travellers are talking about. Paris really does have the "wow" factor & you can't help but fall in love with her. The photo of us in this layout was taken when we had only landed in Paris 4 hours earlier after a 22 hour flight, so all things considered we don't look too bad (although a bit of sleep & some make up would have made the world of difference to my face).

I found this beautiful tissue paper at spotlight & it was just what I was after for this page. The Eiffel Tower is cut from the cover of my 2011 diary. I also covered the heart with the same tissue paper.
Thanks for looking :)

Something we all wish we had more of

Yes, I'm on a role this weekend, trying to get up to speed with the challenges. Here is my take on the Feb Sketch Challenge over at The Boxx.  This was a quickie & it's amazing what you can find among your stash when looking for something else - hence the zipper. Goodness knows how long I've had that, but I thought it was perfect for this page to represent trying to find more time. Dad just wants to do more travelling & he's never been overseas. I wish I was able to take him to see the most amazing places.....but like everybody else, we wish we had more time (and of course more $$$$).  Anyhoo...

Thanks for dropping by again. Have a great week!

The Scrap Boxx fornightly challenge - FIRST

Another layout I completed today was my entry for the f/n challenge over at The Scrap Boxx. The criteria is "First", which you can interpret anyway you want.  I felt it was fitting to use my girl's first home-made pavlova for this challenge. I've used the beautiful Websters Pages that I've been hording for a while & I did a bit of fussy cutting as well. I've also used some of my stash from Tattered Inspirations, thanks Carol :)

Until next time.....

Bird is the word Feb challenge

Hello all, I hope you're having a great weekend so far.....and it hasn't even rained in the last 8 hours :) although the storm last night made up for any lack of water today. I'm plowing through my challenges now & having so much fun with them. This is my entry for this month's Bird is the Word challenge which is "Journey".
I've been wanting to do a b&w page for a while but I'm in love with aqua at the moment and after doing a layout with nothing but aqua & white (which has been selected for publishing....happy dance), I decided that I needed to do a black, white & aqua theme. I've used lots of inking & stamping on this page. I hope you like it.
I'm loving this little Stampin' Up! embossing frame, it is so versatile :)

White with 1 Feb Challenge

Thank god it's Friday! It surely has been a busy week in my household. I finally completed the wedding invitations I've been working on for a couple of weeks. I had a bit of a meltdown during the week because things weren't going as planned, but I got stuck into them today & now they are ready to be packaged & posted off to the bride & groom-to-be. phew!  I also held my first monthly technique class for 2012, which was a huge success & a good time was had by all. So with that & going to work, the usual running of the household, keeping food up to the troops & helping one of the troops study for any important exam, oh & an early morning staff meeting thrown in for good measure.....no wonder I'm feeling a tad low at the mo. So to help me wind-down I completed my entry for the February White with 1 challenge & here 'tis plus some closies.

The criteria is white + lemon + 3 photos. Now lemon/yellow is definitely not a colour I use a lot of, in fact I can't remember the last time I used it as a main colour, so to say I was out of my comfort zone is an understatement. I've used some pics I took in Wollongong last year because I like the way the blue contrasts with the yellow. I had this page sitting on my desk all week, just simmering, & every now & then when I entered my creation station, I would stir it around a little until I was happy with the mix. I made my own bunting from some left over calico & I stamped & inked it. I picked up the buttons at a local discount store & they've been sitting in my stash for a while now & I'm sure they're happy to see the light of day. The background paper is "Presto Patterns", an embossed speciality paper from Stampin' Up! (no longer available). So thanks for calling in & have a great weekend :)

Technique class sample

Happy Sunday everyone and what a beautiful summer, non-rainy day! I've been playing in my creation station today with my inks, embossing powders & big shot. I'm teaching an emboss resist technique in my class this month and this is the sample I've made. I'm in love with these butterflies cut with the Big Shot and the "Beautiful Butterflies" Bigz die. They are so versatile and when coupled with a bit of embossing & inking I think they come up a treat. Ready to place on a card or a scrapbook page.

I've used Regal Rose & Daffodil Delight inks on the butterflies with Lucky Limeade c/stock (from the new In Colour range). The stamp is from the Elements of Style stamp set which is also one of my faves. I've also added a little extra by using the Lace Ribbon border punch. Here are the closies......

This is another emboss resist card I made using a brayer as well as the very pretty Pool Party ink & ribbon - another of the new In Colour range. The background stamp is the Medallion Stamp which I tend to use on a regular basis.

Besides preparing for classes, I've also been busy making wedding invitations for my daughter's friend. I'll post a pic of them next week hopefully. Hmmmm, may have to hold back on the challenges a little bit this month :( Naaahhh! I'm sure I can fit a few in somewhere.........surely!???
Thanks for dropping by :)
