The New Mr & Mrs

I was asked today to make another wedding card with silver & purple as the theme. This is what I came up with. I've used Stampin' Up! brushed silver & concord crush cardstock, Elegant Eggplant ink, silver embossing powder, Punch Potpourri stamp (ex-hostess stamp set), Very Vintage Stampin' Wheel & heart punch. I usually have embossing powder spread everywhere by the time I'm finished with it & today was no exception. It doesn't matter how careful I am, the powder still finds its way into everything, but I so love using it.  TFL

Bird is the word challenge

This is my entry in the "Adore" challenge over at birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com   I've been wanting to do this photo for a few months now. I love how natural Elise looks in this shot. It's a bit hard to tell from here but close up you can see all her freckles that appear when she is out in the sun for too long. I think I love it so much because it reminds me of when she was younger & she hated her freckles (& still does). So I used to tell her that they are "sun kisses" and a face without freckles is like the night sky without stars. I really went on a rampage with the distressing on this page (very therapeutic I must say). I did lots of tearing, crinkling, inking, misting etc. The pp is from the beautiful "Beau Chateau" range from Stampin' Up! The buttons, silk flower & doily is from Purple Pumpkin, Basic Grey rub-on, Stampin' Up! ribbon & a touch of muslin. I wasn't quite happy with the colour match from the photo with the colour scheme so I changed the photo to sepia.

I've been working on this OTP project from Kaiser Craft for a few weeks now. I really didn't know how to tackle it at first but when I saw a few examples online & decided on the photos & colour scheme, it came together pretty quickly. I really enjoyed the process & I hope you like it too. TFL

It's a bit hard to see in this photo, but I have embossed the bride & groom with Stampin' Up! clear embossing powder.

A rainy day means creation day

Hi fellow scrappers, just thought I'd share my layout for the November Sketch Challenge over at www.scrapboxx.com.au The Palace Gardens in Prague were so pretty & their lawns were filled with daisies, so I couldn't resist a little sit amongst them to soak up the sunshine. Another Griswald moment: we attempted to have lunch a cafe' in the gardens. We both ordered the very same meal & after an hour's wait (& reminding the waiter on several occasions), Pete's meal was brought out but not mine. After several complaints to the waiter my meal failed to appear (surprise, surprise - it's a family tradition for our meal orders to be forgotten where ever we go) & by this time Pete had finished, so we left the cafe' after giving the waiter a serving - pardon the pun. The waiter seemed to understand english & even if he didn't, it was quite clear that he hadn't brought two meals to our table in anyone's language. So this photo is of me looking half starved - well not quite but I did have a doughnut for lunch just to add to the 5kgs that had sneakily stowed away on my body somewhere between Paris & Prague. Thanks for stopping by.

Visiting the Queen...

Recently we had a few days in Canberra showing my parents around a city they haven't seen in over 30 years. We took them to the usual tourist spots accompanied by the most beautiful spring weather. When Queen Elizabeth II discovered that we would be visiting Canberra she thought it would be a brilliant idea for her to coincide her visit at the same time (tongue in cheek). We were exploring the National Museum when we were told that if we went down to the lake at 10.30 am, we would get to see the Queen floating by on her way to Floriade. We thought it would be a good opportunity to see her IRL, so off we went with our Latte's & there we sat sunning ourselves. An hour & half & a bad sunburn later...........we were still waiting for her to grace us with her presence. Finally along came the Royal Flotilla casually cruising as close as possible to the lake's edge - ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE LAKE! We did have a good view of the police vessels whizzing past though. Oh well she missed an incredible opportunity to meet us :)
This is my entry for Scrappers Challenge #20 over at The Scrapboxx. TFL xx
